Incorporated into the LHC logo design to designate the seafoods found in the Lacombe area the blue crab is an integral part of the recreational, commercial, and culinary life of Lacombe residents. 
The blue crab (Colinectes sapidus--beautiful swimmer)  is one of the 4,400 variieties found in salt and brackshis waters from the Gulf Coast to the Atlantic Coast.  Locally they are called the Lake Pontchartrain Blue Crab.
